We started collecting Vintage Porcelain Advertising Signs back in the early 1970’s. One of the first pieces I bought as an adult was a Coca Cola Stained glass hanging lamp. It was a 1970’s reproduction of an original. I purchased a few other inexpensive advertising pieces in the next few years. In the early 1980’s I was working in the oil field in Caspar Wyoming. I started collecting Oil and Drilling Company stickers, hats and signs. Then in the late 1980’s I bought my first neon Coca Cola clock. That started an addiction that continues to this day….. Old Signs for Sale
I was working 2 jobs living on the 18th floor of a high rise when I bought my first neon Coca Cola Clock. That was in the 1980’s and I knew then I would be a collector for life. it was a love affair with neon. These clocks were very functional and were a piece of art and also told me the time. I remember thinking this clock was so great that I wanted another brand. I then started scouring the yellow pages calling antique stores inquiring if they had any neon clocks..The first response was always “neon what”.. it took me awhile however I finally found an old Gas Station clock that was not working.
I was now in the restoration business. just loved bringing that one clock back to life & that introduced me to restoration business. I could not find enough neon clocks to quash my appetite and I then started buying signs. Eventually I filled up my 18th floor apartment with signs like the MOBIL Cookie Cutter. Imagine the looks i received bringing these large signs up the elevator . Eventually we move to a bigger townhouse. That lasted for about 10 years, I filled the Condo and 3 storage units I then updated to a double store front with a loft located above & full basement…Below is my first original neon clock & I was hooked…
